If you are following our musing on this blog, you know by now that Anders looooves mashed potato sandwiches and we both love roasted garlics. So it should come as no surprise that we at some point had to mix the two. Of course, we also enjoy cheese, so this sandwich was inevitable. In a moment of pure inspiration (we’re very modest), Anders decided to cut up a piece of Teriyaki Beef Jerky into really fine pieces, very much like little bacon pieces, and sprinkle on top. The result was great. After you finish chewing through the first layer, you end up with little pieces of jerky at the end of each bite. Very cool.
Sandwich Recipe
- 1 piece of dark rye bread (We promise to post the recipe sometime).
- 4-5 tbs mashed potato. Cover the bread well, as seen in the pictures.
- 2 tbs of teriyaki beef jerky, finely cut
- 3 roasted garlic
- 1 tbs mayonnaise
- 1 1/2 – 2 tbs shredded parmesan cheese
Cover the bread with mashed potato. Spread the mayonnaise on top, and lay the roasted garlic out across. You can abrely make out the roasted garlic on the pictures. Sprinkle the small pieces of beef jerky across the sandwich, and shred the parmasan on top.
This is a seriously good sandwich !
The mashed potatoes sandwiches are very intriguing. Starch on Starch, but man does it look tasty. The beef jerky topping is inspired as well.
Thank you very much, we appreciate it. The jerky topping came in a flash while I was looking through the pantry for some toppings. And it worked! We shall definitely experiment more with the jerky, it’s a fascinating topping because of the inherent chewiness, and I think best utilized on ‘soft’ sandwiches like this. If you try this, let us know what you think by the way…
