This burger looks quite simple, but the onions make it very moist and delicious while the roasted garlic gives it a great taste. This is definitely one of our favorite burgers so far. In the next few weeks our kitchen is being renovated, and we’re not sure how we can keep up our frantic sandwich making pace. We will have access to an outdoor BBQ with a side stove, and… restaurants. Idea for BBQ sandwiches/burgers that can be easily prepared with no kitchen would be highly appreciated 🙂
Burger Recipe
- 1/2 pound beef
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 shredded onion
- 1 garlic shredded
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 4 tsp roasted garlic mayo
- 1 slice of Dubliner cheese
- 1 burger bun
- 1 tbs olive oil.
- 1 large onion
Cut the onion into slices, and heat the olive oil on medium-low heat in a pan. When hot, add the onion, and let is slowly cook for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown (as in photo). The key is not to use too much heat. We want the sugars to release from the onion and help the caramelization which takes time. Time it so you place the burgers on the BBQ when there is about 13 minutes left for the onions.
Mix the beef, garam masala, paprika, salt and pepper and grate the quarter onion and garlic into a bowl. Mix thoroughly and then shape 4 beef patties (or 2 large ones). Grill on medium heat on the BBQ for about 10-12 minutes, flipping the burgers halfway through. Near the end of the cooking, place the burger buns on the grill for about 30 seconds on each side or until they turn golden brown.
Remove everything from the grill. Spread the garlic may on the top and bottom of the bun, and place the burger, cheese and caramelized onion inside.
Enjoy while warm,
