Spicy Roast Beef Sandwich with Cheese, Olives, Onions, Fresh Basil Leaves and Sprouts

This spicy roast beef cheese sandwich has hot (but sweet) chili sauce inside, and is made with a strong pungent cheese as well, both adding to the spicy flavor. It’s made on a toasted ciabatta roll, and has plenty of crunch from the sprouts. Adding a few fresh basil leaves brings it to a whole new level.

Sandwich recipe

  • 1 ciabatta roll
  • Roast beef in generous amounts
  • 2 tsp Spicy chili sauce (We used chili sauce from a restaurant on Strøget, Denmark).
  • 6 green or black olives
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2-3 fresh sweet basil leafs
  • 2 sliced strong cheese
  • 1 tbs finely chopped onions
  • 2-3 tbs sprouts (a small handful).

Slice the ciabatta roll in half, and place the cheese on one side. Place the roast beef on the other half. Toast both halves in a toaster oven until the bread starts turning golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Remove the toasted roll from the oven, and spread the chili sauce across the roast beef. Add chopped onions and salt. The chili sauce will help keep the olives from rolling off, so add the olives on top now. Top with sprouts.

Place basil leaves on the other half of the ciabatta roll.   Finally close the sandwich and enjoy.
